MISOLIMA ePat MCU has 3 8 bit ports plus 2x bits. Port #1 is also used for the 10-bit ADCs..

The hart of most embedded MISOLIMA products are ePat MCU that includes the new DOLLx8 network protocol.

ePat MCU 5V and ePAT MCU 5D Module is a ready programmed microcontroller module loaded with DOLLx8 commands for 3x8-bit I/O, 8x-10-Bit ADC (Analogue to Digital Converter). Each port can be controlled directly via DOLLx8 commands using serial communication via RS-232 or USB. The module has TTL-level RS-232 I/O so MAX232 or TTL-USB (see eCharlie U2R in the products menu) converter will be needed to interface with i.e. PC.

ePat MCU uses ATMEL's AC2 (AC3 as option) 18.432 MHz embedded MCU (Micro Controller Unit) and provides Preset and Reset buttons on PCB for re-programming so it's possible to run own embedded software on the same module.

The built-in DC-DC power supply on PCB are designed for 5-28Vdc input suitable for most vehicle applications. When the DC-DC switching power supply is used, the module will also output regulated 5Vdc (max. 300mA) on pin #1 on K1.

The ePat MCU module uses a high performance CMOS FLASH version of the 80C51 CMOS single chip 8-bit microcontroller from ATMEL name T89C51AC2 that contains a 32Kbytes Flash memory block for program and data. The 16K bytes or 32K bytes FLASH memory can be programmed with spesific software. The programming voltage is internally generated from the standard VCC pin.

The ePat MCU retains all features of the 80C52 with 256 bytes of internal RAM, a 7-source 4-level interrupt controller and three timer/counters. In addition, the ePat MCU has a 10 bits A/D converter, a 2Kbytes Boot Flash Memory, 2 Kbytes EEPROM for data, a Programmable Counter Array, an XRAM of 1024 byte, a Hardware Watchdog Timer and a more versatile serial channel that facilitates multiprocessor communication (EUART).

The fully static design of the ePat MCU allows reducing system power consumption by bringing the clock frequency down to any value, even DC, without loss of data.

The ePat MCU has 2 software-selectable modes of reduced activity and 8-bit clock prescaler for further reduction in power consumption. In the Idle mode the CPU is frozen while the peripherals and the interrupt system are still operating. In the power-down mode the RAM is saved and all other functions are inoperative.
